# Upload files in Pocket

There are multiple use cases to upload files while using Pocket. This article outlines those use cases. In summary, you can trust Pocket has all your uploaded files in your own Files folder and you can access it whenever needed.

Four use cases when uploading files into Pocket

1. Your bank is a small regional or community bank, and they do not offer a digital connection as an option.

In this case, you can go to the Connections page, click the Banking/CC tab, scroll down to find “Manually import your bank statement” card to manually upload a bank statement in PDF, or CSV file, so Pocket can ingest transactions from the file.

2. During the monthly reconciliation process, upload a bank statement (PDF) and click a button to self-reconcile the PDF bank statement with the monthly banking transactions that Pocket has on your book.

Since Pocket is already ingesting bank transactions digitally, many customers ask why I still need to upload a PDF bank statement for monthly reconciliation.

This is because, even though we are ingesting your bank transactions digitally, they are still not official records, and in rare cases, there might still be errors in digitally ingested data.

To make sure your bank ending balance on your “book” reconciles with your actual bank ending balance, it is part of accounting practice to “reconcile” the digital record of your book with the PDF version of your official bank statement.

You can go to the Reconciliation page and upload a bank statement PDF, for one-click monthly reconciliation.

3. Upload opening balance file: last year’s Income Statement and Balance Sheet

During your initial onboarding, you may be asked to provide last year’s Income Statement and Balance Sheet for opening balance booking.

In this case, please go to the Files page and upload your statements there.

In addition, you could also use the File online folder to upload any other documents needed for finance and accounting operations.

Once saved, all financial statements generated by Pocket are stored in your Files → Reports folder that you can access at any time to download and share.

4. Upload files in the commenting box.

In addition, you can upload any commenting context-specific files through the in-app Commenting box.
